WIC news
Work and Breastfeeding Law: Any number of employees, in Maine, no minimum number of employees, and no one yet has asked for a waiver.  Critics focus on the waiver, no one has applied, let alone got one.  An employer should work with a breastfeeding specialist to address barriers before a waiver would be granted.
3 day training w/ Kathy Cruthers for Peer counselors completed.  San Diego conference highlights: Learned about importance peer counselors in group education settings, bed-sharing James McKenna spoke.  Maine has the highest opiate use per capita. WIC agencies have this situation as a top concern.

Study: Term healthy infants iron supplements at 4 month.

• Maine Public Health  - PAN ‘s Healthy Maine Partnerships with window decal for Breastfeeding Welcome Here for businesses. Then they will teach businesses about the law.

CDC teleconference  announcements:  Surgeon General’s call to action near done no release date.
 2010 United State breastfeeding report card released, some 2010 goals were met.  WHO growth charts have been accepted as the standard in the US.
